The other day I got a little ambitious and tried to fix my broken washing machine. Everything was going well, until I couldn’t get the screws off the bottom to get the front plate off. So, basically it got frustrating before I even started!
I had a little meltdown, threw and mini temper-tantrum, and then decided to make some cookies.
Because that’s what normal people do when they are frustrated, right?
I knew I wanted chocolate chip, because there’s just something comforting about chocolate chip cookies, and the kids wanted m&ms of course (is there any other kind for kids?!) so I decided to throw these cookies together.
So so good! I am still loving my powdered-peanut butter trick for cookies, but these will work fine without that too, if you can’t get your hands on any!
Ingredients
- 4 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups butter, melted & slightly cooled
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons powdered peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups m&m candies
Directions
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and salt; Set aside.
In a large mixer bowl, cream together the slightly cooled melted butter, the sugars & the powdered peanut butter until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes!). Beat in the eggs, yolks and vanilla until smooth.
Mix in the flour mixture until just combined and then stir in the all the chocolate chips and m&m candies. Place the dough into the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350º. Line several baking sheets with parchment paper. When the 30 minutes are up, scoop out the dough onto the baking sheet with a medium scoop... Bake for about 8-10 minutes, until the cookies are just barely golden brown around the edges*.
*I always like to under-bake my cookies. I have never had a cookie that is too moist for my tastes, but I have had plenty of dry, overdone cookies in my life!

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I did kind of fix my washer. But then it broke again, so all that work was for naught. Grrr… I guess my handy(wo)man skills need improving. At least I can bake! ;o)
